Sustainability at kepu - get to know your earth-friendly case!

At kepu we strive to set new standards for sustainable products. We're not just another phone case drop shipper, you are not just getting a random phone case - but a carbon negative product made from renewable sources and rescued food production leftovers. And you are helping to fund environmental and social projects.

Find out what makes kepu a sustainable brand:

kepu cases are biobased

We aim for a 100% biobased carbon content. Our main material component has a content of 50-85% to which we add 100% renewable ingredients like the sprinkles and other organic biobased ingredients as well as stone powder which simply cannot be grown from plants. All the ingredients are carefully selected and neccessary to achieve the ideal protective characteristics and smooth texture a phone case material needs. We are constantly working to increase the renewable content of our materials.

kepu phone cases are compostable

Our base material is certified for industrial composting. All other components we add are unprocessed biological materials, which are therefore biodegradable as well.
Our products are also home compostable - just not certified. The total time for the cases to fully compost at home is hard to determine and might take 2-3 years depending on the conditions. It is similar to the composting of comparable products made from wood. We are conducting composting tests - stay tuned on our social media.

kepu phone cases are microplastic free

Microplastic free

The degradation of our material does not leave any lingering microplastic behind. This is possible because the degradation is done by microbes which eat the plastic and turn it into water, CO2, minerals and biomass.

kepu phone cases are resource efficient

Resource efficient

Natural resources are precious and should be used responsibly. Non-renewable resources will be used up sooner or later. Renewable ressources need land and machinery. That is why

  • we strive to keep the fossil-based content as minimal as possible
  • we use materials based on agricultural by-products to pose no competition for food production

kepu phone cases are recyclable and use recycled packaging

We design our cases to be fully recyclable at the end of their life cycle. As official structures for the recycling of bioplastics do not exist yet, we developed our own. By sending us back your old kepu cases you can help. We will recycle your case and keep the materials in the loop for as long as possible. This way carbon emissions and other environmental impacts can be decreased drastically in comparison to virgin material.
Our packaging is 100% recyclable as well. We take care to pick only components that are recyclable in the paper recycling cycle. You can throw it in the paper bin.

kepu phone cases are carbon compensated even carbon-negativ

We take action against climate change. That's why we are constantly on the lookout to reduce our carbon footprint even more. Additionally we compensate the CO2 that is still emitted during the life cycle of our products with raw materials, production, shipping and recycling as well as the footprint of our office, commute and travel. And then we compensate even more. This means more CO2 is captured or avoided by our climate partners, than is caused by our products rendering the kepu cases as carbon negative :)

kepu phone cases donate 1% for planet environmental and social project

Giving back

We believe in giving back to nature and society. That is why we donate part of our profits to environmental and social non-profit organisations. These organisations tackle environmental problems, that are associated with phones and phone cases and are working to make the world a better place. For more information look here.
